Anhui Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public college directly under Anhui Provincial Education Department. The college was founded in 1954, originally known as Anhui Textile Technology Training Class, based on which, Anhui Textile Industry School and Anhui Light Industry School were established in 1958.  Upgraded to Anhui Institute of Textile Technology in 1960, the college, as one of the first batch of higher vocational colleges in Anhui Province approved by the Ministry of Education of the PRC, began to provide higher vocational education in 1999. In 2003, it was renamed Anhui Vocational and Technical College with the approval of the provincial government. In 2014, the four-year consistent system of  applied undergraduate education was offered jointly with Hefei University. Since 2021, the college has cooperated with Anhui Jianzhu University to offer associate to bachelor’s degree program.In 2022, it was included in the “14th Five-Year Plan” vocational undergraduate college setting plan in Anhui Province.

The college covers an area of over 2,115 mu (=1,409,999 square meters) and has 20,704 students enrolled. With the provincial planning goal of developing strategic emerging industries, accelerating the transformation and upgrading of manufacturing industry and promoting the high-quality development of service industry, the college optimally sets up 16 secondary colleges of advanced manufacturing and modern service industries. In collaboration with leading enterprises, It has jointly established 12 Industry Colleges, including BYD Industry College, Qi’anxin Cybersecurity Industry College,and Digital Business Industry College.Anhui Vocational and Technical College is the first vocational college to establish an overseas branch school (Xingzhi College - Thailand Campus), the first to export professional standards overseas (Sino-Thai Modern Vocational Education Cooperation “210 project”), and the first to enroll international students (Electrical Automation major in Cambodia) in Anhui province. 

The college currently has 1,198 staff members. The college has 1 national-level teaching team, 2 national-level master teachers, 15 provincial-level teaching teams, and 19 provincial-level master teachers;In recent years, the faculty has won 5 provincial-level top rewards for teaching achievement, and a total of 37 first, second and third-class awards, and 2 second-class national-level awards for teaching achievements in 2023. The college has always adhered to the teaching concept of comprehensive education, and constantly improved the teaching quality and education level. It has won 9 first prizes in the national vocational college skills competition and 675 awards in various competitions above the provincial level. The college attaches great importance to the construction of excellent academic style, training students’ professional ethics, and encouraging service to the country. In recent years, the graduation rate of the college has been maintained at more than 97 %, of which more than 60 % graduates stay in Hefei city and more than 80% in Anhui province, and more than 150,000 high-level technical skills have been cultivated for the society. 

In order to fully implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the educational policy and the spirit of President Xi’s important instructions on vocational education, and build a better Anhui, the College, adhering to the motto of “unity, diligence, preciseness and practicality”, has vigorously carried out the“1133” characteristic development strategy and made unremitting efforts to build a high-level vocational and technical university as soon as possible.
